Despite the longstanding presence of individuals with Asian roots in the Netherlands and Belgium, they are frequently perceived through the lens of the “model minority.” Consequently, the creative representation of Western-Asian perspectives lags behind. In Modelverhalen (Model Stories), Dutch writers with Asian backgrounds share their personal stories. Through essays, poems, and short stories, they explore the complexities of their identities. 

I was invited to design a book cover that visually captures the idea of reflection. With so many voices and perspectives woven throughout the book, I wanted the design to mirror that richness. My aim was to create a colorful and layered composition that honors the theme.
